Section titled “Media Desk”Approved media placement without guesswork
Section titled “Approved media placement without guesswork”Media Desk is a local-only operations tool for moving approved images into the folders where a project actually uses them.
The problem
Section titled “The problem”Assets were spread across the Richie ZXY website and separate Verse projects. Copying an image into the wrong folder, silently overwriting a file, or losing the handoff context creates cleanup work that is more expensive than the original placement.
The system
Section titled “The system”Media Desk makes the destination explicit before a file is written:
- Choose a registered workspace root and destination.
- Inspect the image preview, dimensions, type, and size.
- Review a dry-run transfer plan.
- Skip collisions or choose a deliberate versioned filename.
- Confirm the copy and download a checksum-backed transfer manifest.
The architecture
Section titled “The architecture”The UI is a local Astro-adjacent static tool backed by registry.json. It uses the browser File System Access API and never uploads files, scans the workspace in the background, or handles secrets.
The result
Section titled “The result”Image placement becomes a visible, reviewable operation instead of an invisible file move. The tool supports the website and Verse without merging their source trees.
Lesson
Section titled “Lesson”Good internal tooling does not remove judgment. It puts the important judgment in front of the action.
